Looking for info on a 300 swapped Ranger

At the end of the day this build thread was never about a 302, I only mentioned it in jest to tease the OP.

Hypotheticals about who has more of this and that and who is going to last longer... go in circles until one party gets bored. I have yet to see one really accomplish a thing.

Stock explorer vs 300 then?

You can junkyard mild build the 302 still. Only reason for it....and I don't leave much stock.

How do you junkyard mild build a 300?

I have, and will still build all of these engines and know the results dyno and track.

My e350 never fell to a stock 90,s or 80,s anything. With a trainload of miles on it.

You go ahead and have a gear to gear with a gen 1 psd. You won't be bragging...empty or loaded. Just pissed.

Big block tows just fine, that is not the argument...beating the all things same psd....no. falling on its face in the mountains.....yes. pretty simple.

Argue is silly...
Don't have to bench race. We have every combo available here.

Nothing to it but to do it. Rusty find a psd with your equivocation and do a best of 7.

Justin.....you have probably the only useless 302 in farm country. Probably why you wasted your time putting it in a ranger was because no one in their right mind would do work with one.

Just Go to the first old truck you see and run a gammit with trailers.....obviously it will have a 300 because they last forever and were the most common for farm work. Probably every one ever built is still running out there.

Youre on crack if you think a 4.0 has any place in this debate.

You can junkyard build a 300. Theres a guy on youtube running 10 and 11s in a maverick. IIRC he has less then 5k in the whole thing including the car.

Furthermore its very difficult to find a stock 7.3 obs anymore. I dont know what year your van was but if its after 97 they really cranked the PSD up (525ftlb IIRC). So id sure as hell hope itd beat a 460.

Mountain towing yes ill give it that as turbos do better at altitude then N/A. The 7.3 also got better mileage.

But apples to apples ill put my money on the 460 everytime.

Remember in the 80s when ford saddled 300 powered F150s with a 2.47 rear and the 3sp manual with O/D? They couldnt do it with a 302 because the clutch woulda been fried before it got backed off the carrier.

But either way im done here. I made my points and we are both to hard headed tu give either way. So lets just leave it be.

Apolgies to @PetroleumJunkie412 for muddying up tbe thread.

Stock explorer 5.0

Alright, boys. Everybody to the middle of the ring and shake hands. Things seem to be getting a bit mean-spirited here.

If i harbored ill feelings to all the people on here ive got into...."discussions" with i would of bought an S10 a long time ago.

Ain't nothing a pointed distributer and a good 2bbl on a 2.9 won't do...

You think this is bad... go have a "discussion" with someone on an S10 forum. You'd want to drive that S10 off a cliff.

There's actually an S10 forum? Why? I thought all of those had rusted away by now. :ROFLMAO:

The S10 will last long enough to register for the forum, but by the time you type your first post it's rusted away. I had a '91 for a while, only because it had been abandoned on my property - what a piece of junk.

Hey now...

I would bet money that the first old truck I find that wasn't a diesel would have a 350... but for a farm truck a 2010 is old. Can't impress the neighbors with 150hp and a lots of rust.

For a farm truck it is a different world too. What worked on a modern farm as a truck in the 60's-90's will not cut it today.... so naturally there isn't many still on the front lines. I can think of nothing older than a 7.3 (OBS) in a frontline farm truck in my little corner of the world.

And had my engine been correctly listed as an '87 I think it would have had more interest. Advertised as an '84 with no pics... I almost didn't bother to go look at it. I have been looking for another to rebuild and then just switch... I don't see ANY 302 listed for $150 anymore let alone a roller cam engine.

You did.

And with a 2.9.

Yeah I was being facetious
