It has to have some give, and it won't be as willing to slip a tire with a heavy trailer on the truck.
I don't really think a full time locker of any sort is the answer. IMO a limited slip would be the best option.

Agreed. That is not the way to go on a tow vehicle. I would not do it on any vehicle, unless it is a dedicated drag racer. Even then I would spool it. I am not a fan of welding spiders together.
