I've been searching and can't find a write up on swapping in a new rear axle assembly. With pics would be great. Help please.

what axle are you swapping in? an explorer one swaps in the same all connecters and such(not sure about disc brake ones) just relocate the spring perch. gotta let us know what you wanna do.

Just taking mine out, (4:10s, 31 spline, 8.8) and putting a used one,(same) back in. I'm just looking for some pics or a how to. I figure it's not too hard, but wanted to know what steps to follow.

remove 1 brake hose from the center of the axle, remove driveshaft, remove axle vent tube, remove parking brake cables, remove sway bar end links if equipped, remove ABS connector from top of diff housing, remove u-bolts and roll the axle out

am i forgetting anything?

naw i don't think so just make sure you take a pic of how the rear brakes are set-up cause that was a pain. i just disconnected my brake hose from up where it was around the frame rail. i can take pics of where you gotta do stuff tomarrow if you can hold out. but pretty straight forward

Pics would be helpful, no rush, I have to wait until after this weekend to do it anyway. Sounds like it wont be too bad. I guess that the only thing I was worried about would be the pinion angle. I have to think that the leaf spring perches will keep it in line though, right?
