I can't seem to find anything for under a hundred bucks, heck even two hundred. My kid is learning to drive a 5 speed and I'm sure it would help him with the shift points. If anyone knows of anything out there please let me know. Thanks

sunpro,$35 at auto zone or advance auto parts.installs easy and is adjustable for 4,6 or 8cyl engines.fwiw.

I think a stock cluster with tach is a bolt in for that year too...

I second the Sunpro. I have them in both my Rangers. One of them has been in there for 15 years with no problems.

Thanks guys, sometimes the most obvious answer is the hardest to see.....

IMO If the kid is learning to drive a stick he doesn't need the distraction of timing his shifts by looking at a tach. He should be looking through the windshield and doing everything else by ear and feel. That said, a tach is cool when your drag racing.

You're right, really he needs it most for downshifting. I'm trying to break him of pushing in the clutch every time he applies the brakes. So I'm going to try to set a point on the tach where he would push in the clutch when it goes below that point, before it stalls.

Downshifting throught he gears is something that will come to him after he's comfortable with upshifting. I taught my daughter to drive an Isuzu pickup with a 5 speed. Her first car was a Toyota with a 5 speed. She had the same habit of pushing in the clutch when she hit the brakes. Never could break her of it. My 17 year old grandson is the same way. Some people just never do master a stick.

Ok so now that I have one can someone help a noob find the ignition wire, the tach manual says its tan with a yellow stripe, and to honest I'm not sure where to begin looking. Thanks.
