Hey guys I have a problem that you may be able to help me out with.

First, I have a 93 Ranger Supercab with the F150 spring up front which gives me 2-2 1/2 inches of lift. I originally installed the Pro Comp PN 918510 shocks but they were VERY soft, they even look like they are for a small car. I needed a stiffer shock but that was all Pro Comp had for my Ranger. I ended up swiping a set of SkyJackers off an Explorer I bought off Craigs that felt stiffer and worked better but they are a little short. I'm waiting for them to get torn apart as this truck sees a lot of airtime. The "skyjackers" have no part number or anything on them so I don't know what to re-order.

I know about the F250 mount and I did the mount on my 93 Explorer but this is my daily driver and don't have the time to work on it that intensely as of right now, maybe in the future. What I need is a really stiff shock with the stud type attachment. I thought maybe the Pro Comp equivalent of the single shock full size Bronco. I searched and it looks like the same PN as the Ranger and Explorer.

Does anyone know where I can get the stiffest stud type shock available? Collapsed 11.52 and Extended 18.66 around those numbers.

Thanks guys!

Of all the shocks I've used so far, KYBs seem to be the stiffest (to the point of being a little harsh even).

Bilstein also makes an excellent shock, without as much harshness.

Does KYB make a stud type shock with the length I need? Seems like they only have OEM stuff on their site. Bilstein is the same, all seem to have the newer mounting type.

Mine were for the front of a '79 Bronco (not the "Quad-shock" option). They are pretty close to 20" extended length IIRC, so might be a bit long for your app.

I would get a shock catalog out and start cross-referencing shock apps to their lengths so you can find something that'll work if the brand shock you want doesn't list lifted apps (or doesn't show details about their lengths in their catalog).

IIRC, Rancho and Pro Comp were both pretty good about listing the details of their shocks.
