Hi, i am new here and dont have a Ranger, but in the market for one for my son. Maybe you guys can let me know what you think of this deal...
2004 Edge, 3.0, 2x4, 4.10s, a/c, regular cab, regular bed with liner and cover. Its in really nice shape with 57,000 miles and all the service records. He wants $7000 for it....
Thanks for any advice.

I had 10K more miles on mine and its extended cab as well, paid 9200 for it. Sounds like a descent deal.

That isn't the worst price I've seen asked. I wouldn't pay that for a 3.0, 4x2 reg cab, but that's me.

3.0 is a good engine and I love the one in my Escape. I personally wouldn't want one in my Ranger, because it's not a great towing engine, but 4.10s should give it a few extra bawlz.

If its in overall good shape and he is just gonna use to to run to school and work and maybe throw all his crap in the bed and head off to college it should be a good truck for him.

$7,000 sounds like a good deal. He can't get too many speeding tickets with the 3.Slow.

Be warned: You might drive it and end up wanting one for yourself!

I have a comment but I will keep it to myself.

I had a Ranger a billion years ago and loved it. Now I am driving an '01 Sport Trac with the 4.0 and 4.10 ls rear, loaded with leather. I REALLY like this ride!!

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but isn't the 3.0 in your Escape the DOHC Duratec while the 3.0 in the Ranger in question a 3.0 OHV Vulcan engine?

OP, what kind of weather/terrain do you have in your area? If there is a lot of snow/mud I would look at a 4x4, especially if I was spending that kind of money. I know just recently I've seen a 2001 4.0 4x4 for $6000 around here for sale and a couple 2002-04s for about $8000 with well under 100,000 miles.

Everybody has told you right, its not a bad price. But that doesnt mean you cant find better. Such as 2000-04 4x4 4.0l ext cab for the same. It all depends on what feels like a good deal to you.

Offer $6399 for it and steal it away!!!!! As long as everything works it should be a great ride!!!
