I need a crankcase separator for a 1988 Ford Ranger 2.0. Its the can that sits under the intake and to the right of the distributor.

D9FZ-6A785-A is the part number I've found but I can't it anywhere online.

Does anyone have any ideas where I can get one of these?

Thanks,

James

Junkyard is the best place...and later models did use a similar canister but they are a bit different...they probably will work but you may need to modify it a bit...I was going to try one as a valve cover separator but it would have taken too much to change things to make it fit...

I do have an extra one that I don't need...it has a bit of rust on one of the lips (I think) but it still worked...I just tried a different one from an 87 mustang to see if it sealed better than the one I had...no difference though.

I just removed mine and put on a pcv valve to fill the hole

Ah, OK...well, the thing is if you are hooking that PCV up to your intake you might find the engine starts smoking a bit...well, actually, it will probably smoke quite a bit...

If you are not hooking it up to the intake you will find your oil pressure goes through the roof and it will probably blow out that PCV on the highway somewhere...

But it really depends on how many miles are on the engine and how good the rings are...I've spent about a year farting around with various and assorted ways to divert the excess pressure from my crankcase and help to retain my oil so I don't have to fill it up every 100 or so miles...

You're better off putting in the proper canister and connect it to the PCV and to the intake to draw off some of the pressure...but if you don't have a blow-by problem then you may not have to worry about it too much...for a while.

Let me know if you can't find a canister because I did find mine and it is actually in good shape...just a ding in the bottom that I seem to find on many of them...
