Looking for 3.0 history

Way cool man, thanks for all the advice 😀. I'm planning on to use the camshaft and crankshaft from the engines. Machine shop will do a work down on those to match the engine specs as it's being built. Since headers are that rare, will work with the stock exhaust manifolds for this. I only wanna do this one time. I already have a flowmaster 40 deltaflow I found at a wrecking yard, will have it installed with a single in single out 2.5 system once the truck is back on the road. The former owner who lives in the neighborhood stopped by recently to ask what I'm doing..I explained, and he is gonna help with some of the work. I can use the extra hands. The roller rockers I will look into those. The port and polished matching, I will let the machine shop handle all of that. He said I would be happy with the results. He hasn't rebuilt many 3.0 engines..he looking forward to doing this one.

Thanks again

Ok. Big decision time here. I've had a project/dream to do a supercharged 3.0l fir my truck. But I haven't gotten very far. And, lately I've been thinking I might be better off just doing an Explorrer V8 swap when I repower.

I have the headers and maybe a few other goodies from the junk yard and from 97 3.0l that I tore down for the rebuild. I need to clean out my garage. Let me get a list of what I have today or tomorrow and if there's anything you're interested in, we'll come up with a deal.

When you make your list could you also take pictures? I will decide if I can use some of your 3.0 parts. Shipping from south Carolina to Arizona may be pricey, we will figure it out.

Seems as you and bgunner are the 3.0 gurus here. At least you guys reply back with good information.

Thanks to both of you for the information.

I'll send a pm.

Dropped off both 3.0 engines at the machine shop. We went over the full rebuild, I'm excited. Between the two 3.0 engines, I will have one good solid engine. Should be done in a couple of weeks. Gives me time to continue with the wiring harness, clean up the engine compartment, etc.

you truck gets a 5.3

Are you parting out that 97 3.0? If you are, I would like to see the upper and lower intake manifolds..could you possibly post some pictures of those two items?
These are the photos I have right now. I'll try to get better pics later. I think I also have another upper intake - one of the ones with removable throttle body. Don't remember what year that is.

Appreciate the pictures. The upper intake manifold with the removal throttle body is 98+...no need for that one. Do you have a price in mind for both 97 3.0 intake manifolds? These will be spares, as 93-97 3.0's are getting rarer and rarer these days. My zipcode is 96001. Could you let me know a total of those, parts and shipping? I would appreciate it. Hopefully shipping won't be to horrible.
Sure. I'll pm you tomorrow.

I will be picking up this fresh 3.0 this week. I'm excited about getting this installed. Have gotten most things done to prepare for this install. Machine shop used the 95 3.0 block and reused the 97 3.0 heads after doing a complete valve job. He will also install the oil pan, lower intake manifold, timing cover, etc. When I do get it back most of the assembly the engine will be done. That will be good. How I saw this work done, he says it's going to be a good strong reliable engine. As a retired ford mechanic he knows it will be taken care of.
