So today at work I phoned my local autoparts store o price out some Rancho shocks to replace the leaky one on the front of my '98 Ranger. I gave himall the info, 4L, 4x4 etc. then he asked if I wanted 7000 series or 9000 seriesshocks. I just asked for the prices and now I'm wondering does anyone know the difference between the two shocks? He didn't know (as they were the same price). And if someone has them, how well do they work?

Thanks

shocks

i used the rancho shocks on my ranger a couple of years back. i didn't mind the shocks but i thought that the rubber bushings rotted and disappeared a little fast compared to other rubber bushings that i have had. i ended up with gabrial gasmatics and they lasted longer than the rancho's. i just bought another truck and was told that the shocks aren't that old well they are rancho's and true to experience from my ranger the bushings are rotted and missing.

Alright thanks. And did you use the 7000's or 9000's. Still wondering about the difference between them.

I just went on Rancho's web site and they don't list the 6000, (I assume they changed it to the RSX) or the 7000 anymore. The 9000 is adjustable in 9 positions. I've used Rancho shocks on my 79 Power Wagon Macho for over 25 years and never had a problem with them. They have taken as much abuse as I could dish out in the mountains and creeks of North Alabama.
