My Truck

Talked to my insurance company it is covered under my comprehensive coverage I have $250 deductible . waiting for appraiser to come out.
Not the way to start your day

Ouch man, that sucks! Those are some huge chunks of ice! I also say that you should see about her homeowners insurance. May be able to get it fixed under her plan and not have to pay anything.

Yep thats sucks about your truck, at least the ice didnt land on your noggin. She needs to install some heat trace on that eave before someone gets killed, good luck getting your truck fixed.

My truck update

The appraiser just left it looks like a total loss!:bawling:Waiting for the total loss co-ordinator to let me know what they will give me for it.I would hope it is between 3000 and 4000
The good thing is I can by it back minus $250 deductible and a small few( about $360) salvage byback . So if that is the case I will be back to square 1 with this truck . I plan on buying iut back and fixing it .

good luck! hopefully her insurance will pay fo the damage or at least ask her to pay for your "$500" dollar deductible (I know its 250 but you need something for the pain and suffering part)
Best wishes

I can't really see the front end but it looks like all you need is a new bed. Swap one on and away you go. How do they declare that a total loss? Thought they only did that when the frame was bent?

From my experiences with the insurance they will total out the vehicle if the cost of repair is 75% (Percentage varies) of the vehicles value. And because his truck is 2wd and a gen 3 then they base it on what their books say its worth. I had this problem when the wife and I got into a wreck in her '01 Jetta. They only wanted to pay it off based on the base model, and of course hers was loaded up just about every option. We where going to end up owing something like $1500 and I called BS and got into it with the guy on the phone. He kept talking about replacement value... So i talked to his boss and in the end they payed it off and we got like $2500 back.

that sucks same thing happened to my other car but the insurance said it was not covered calling it an act of of god.

looking at my truck update

Just got off the phone with the total claims department and here is the story.
Truck is considered a total due to repairs being over 75% of the book value of the vehicle , ,But they cant give me a figure of book value do to the fact it has 38k miles and was as clean as it is. They are searching my area to get me a fair price for the total (I am hoping for at least 2500 plus the truck) , I can buy it back for the 250 deductible and the 314 salvage buy back fee. The truck will then have to be titled with a salvage /rebuilt title , Oh well I don't care cause I plan on driving the wheels off of it! and the giving it to my son . It's not like it was twisted in half or flooded or toasted! I know it is all cosmetic and I can fix it with a little time and a minimum of parts just refinish supplies and paint! So I am just waiting and planning my body straightening skills to save the bed side as I
have already straightened out most of the gate just to get it to open correctly.

my oh my this is taking forever

here it is a week later and I am still waiting for the insurance company to get in touch with me on a price . Heck I can fix it for probably 500 or less maybe I should just have them forget the claim and just fix it in the spring!
It is now a truck!
dents and all!
gonna call them in the late morning

NO, get all the money and fix it right, its your ranger....LOVE IT

Holy crap. I thought that was some kids vandalizing your truck late at night, then I read you guys talking about ice and looked back at the pictures. Be thankful that wasn't you getting hit.
