Hey I've got the torsion bars cranked 2" on my sport trac and the shocks are now topping out over bigger bumps. Anyone know of a longer front shock other than the Rancho's listed in the tech library.....not a big fan of Rancho's....

Stock shocks will accomodate Tbar cranking.

What you are feeling is the upper limit of suspension travel is topping out, making the ride rough. I doubt longer shocks will make any difference.

Unbolt the shock and you'll likely see that they extend far enough.

Earl is right, you are hitting the suspension stops. Installing longer shocks will not change that. A torsion bar crank of 2" is usually a little to much. I limited my torsion bar crank to 1.5" and have no problems with the suspension travel.

Installing stiffer shocks may help but you will have a rougher ride also.

I have unbolted them....it is the shocks. Anyways I went a head and ordered the Rancho's that are for a torsion key level kit.

I'm running max on my T-Bars, I think it is the suspension but it makes things less bouncy.

Shocks on this thing are originals anyways....new ones will be here in a couple days. The extended Shocks aren't much longer than stockers...about 5/8 " more travel to them.

Is this secretly just an excuse to get new shocks? :icon_rofl:

Not overly....just redid the rest of the front end on this (upper control arms, lower balljoints, tie rod ends, t bar crank and alignment) Shocks have 180k on em...time for new ones, they happen to make ones a tad longer than stock...so yea.

Body lift is on order for it and am looking for a set of shackles for the back of it. 33's will go on it in the spring.

Warrior shackles are a good bang for the buck part P/N WAR153. Last time I bought them they were about $70 including shipping.

Yup, just gotta find a supplier through work for them.

I recommend the ones that are only 5/8 longer. I cant remember if it was this site or ranger-forums but I searched for shocks by length, and found something that was way longer but would fit, well at full crank the shocks sometimes rub the cv's (different style shock, long travel) and I can over extend the cv angles with travel, because the stock shock also limits travel. here is some links to my build thread

Link doesn't work as you have to be a registered member.

The new ones should be here in a couple days.

It might be a good idea for me to get some tougher shocks considering I've been pre running my ranger lol.

Got them installed after work today, once the stock shocks were un bolted, the a arms dropped at least another inch. These shocks are 5/8" longer so there is still some room to play there. The ride is much better after installing these. I know the stock shocks (180k on em) were well past their life span. But I no longer get the harsh top out over potholes and speed bumps. Much better on harsh gravel roads now as well.

I'm happy.

Next up, I have some extended shackles on the way and some new 15x8 soft 8's to mount up my 33's on.
