So I've read somewhere on TRS that since our rockers aren't adjustable, the only way to take out slack in the valvetrain is to replace pushrods with very slightly longer ones. I believe it may have been Big Jim M. He also suggested that it's rare that a hydraulic lifter would go out at 120K miles therefore the pushrod replacement may be the logical route.
Given that, I was contemplating the possibility of doing just that: lifting the valve covers and replacing the pushrods that had clearances. Or maybe all of them.
My questions to the Vulcan 3.0 experts are: how long are the stock pushrods (5.340" ? or 5.328" according to NAPA) and what length are the slightly longer ones I should get. Big Jim M suggested the longest ones that Ford offers, but when I called a few dealerships all of them only stocked the, well, stock length whatever that is.
Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Al
