I'm pretty sure a lot of you guys like older cars for early 70s so I'm going to start a build thread. Its not a Ford though. It is a 1972 Pontiac Ventura II. It was my graduation present from the parents. A lot of images.
When I first got it

This is where I am now with being a broke college student. But going to work on it all of december, because I will be off from college.

Picked up this little gem on ebay for $30. In need of a rebuild. So I got my carb now.:icon_thumby:

Before I say anything I just want to say I'm joking with you........Were you a bad student???? That is a lot of rust in a very hard place to repair. All I can say is take your time and have fun with your build. Old cars never lose their appeal.

Actually I graduated with a 3.45 from honors classes. It was a father/son project when we first got it, but his eyes arent as good as they used to be and he cant weld. It turned into me and my buddies project. I have to classic car and he has a 1980 CJ5 that we are building into a mud truck. Most of the rotted pieces can be bought as reproduced sheet metal.

WHO DAT?
Looking goooood on the engine.........

my graduation car was my parents Pontiac Bonneville...it would smoke the tires as long as there was gas in the tank....LOL

keep the pics rollin across da screeeeen!

Sweet!

I love it.

What color you going to paint it? What wheels you going with?

was hoping on going with black but might go with a red. I'm looking at some Cragar s/s or PMD Rally II wheels for it. Gonna smoke the tires that are on it first. Kinda figured you was a Saints fan doorgunner. 8-0 looks like it might be a black and gold superbowl.

black n gold......hmmmmmmmm......let's save it for the superbowl like you said.....

probably wouldn't work on your car.......LOL

more pics....me need pics of progress

(now 9-0......Waaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahhaa)

I could say my graduation present was my truck as seen in my build thread. I would never trade it or sell it. I wish I had an old car to restore but one project at a time for me. I'll be watching this build.

daNGER.....caps..oops.....if you run across a gooood deal on an old vehicle....Don't let it get away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Store it until it's time to work on it......

Nice project. I just picked up a 68 Firebird to work on over the winter since the build is done on my sons ranger and its too cold up here in Michigan to paint it now.

Firebird has a 350 and a muncie rock crusher 4 speed. :yahoo:
Needs some body work and a paint job. Was restored 15 years ago.

yeah motor finally sealed up and carbs being rebuilt. In the process of finding a 4 speed, discs brakes, and other odds and ends. Going to get more pics this weekend.

It's still sitting there waiting to get finished. Everything else seems to get in the way.
