Back in 2010 when I was shopping for my truck, the only must-have feature if I chose a Ranger was the long bed. I didn't care about auto vs manual, 2WD vs 4x4 or 3.0 vs 4.0 as long as all those mechanicals worked right.
I ended up with a 2006 long bed, 2WD 3.0 automatic. Even though everything did and still work right, I find myself sometimes longing for a third pedal and a shifter. Now I'm not about to swap trannies as this is way beyond my limited mechanical knowledge, therefore it'll stay automatic. While looking at a 2006 tow rating chart I noticed there was no rating for a long bed with a MANUAL transmission, as if this combination did not exist, at least for 2006. Looking at my period brochure also seems to say the same.
Now that I think of it, while searching back then the very few long bed Rangers popping up were all automatics. Am I guessing wrong or was that really an impossible factory combination for the "late models" Rangers ?
