I was wondering what locker I would need for my 02 4x4 4.0 ranger? Dumb question. I know.

Front or rear?

1. What will you use your truck for? (daily driver, snow, mud, hauling/towing...)
2. Is this the front or rear differential?
3. What is your budget?
4. Are you willing to give up any drivability of your vehicle?

Asking yourself these questions will help you decide (and us to give advice for) on what type of locker you'll like the most. You might be fine running an aussie lunchbox locker, or you might want a selectable locker... or maybe a trac-lok or torsen limited slip might suit you better if your budget is small and drivability is a concern.

Bump, I curious as to the answer to this as well. I have the same truck. I was thinking ARB Rear but really don't know much about any of it.

Mines a daily driver, I don't want to climb mount Everest with it, mostly medium trail running, hill climbs on shale, maybe some sand (hopefully LOL) and some mud. No big obstacles, if I go to doing that it'll be a completely different vehicle with single axle.

believe me the ARB's are nice....but if ya want a selectable i would get an e-locker...the electrical wire can be trail fixed alot easier than the tubing, not to mention having to have a compressor....

i have a lunchbox locker in mine....and i don't have any real issues with driveability and i use it as my daily driver....

i just got in the habit of trying to make as wide turns as possible, as well as letting the truck coast through most turns....
