Where is the fuel system pressure relief port on a '99 Ranger with the 4.0L OHV engine?

Is it on the passenger side just in front of the coil pack with a blue cap on it???

On the passenger side of the dashboard, near the kick panel, there is a fuel up cut-off switch. Disconnect that the electrical connector from that. Crank the engine and it should either start and stutter out or not start at all. Then crank the engine again for 3 seconds to re-ensure the pressure has been bled.

If you have a fuel pressure gauge, you can bleed it off through the schrader valve located on the fuel rail. DO NOT attempt to bleed it like you letting air out of a tire. The fuel pressure gauge will have tubing to safely evacuate the fuel away of the engine bay.

Either way, make sure to disconnect the battery and the fuel pump cut-off switch before performing any service. Better off safe than sorry.

I prefer to the first method stated cause it's easier and makes a little bit less of a mess.

Which connection is it??? There are 3 quick disconnects under there in that area. . .

Yep, that was it. . .felt like hell for my truck though!!!

OK. . .fuel filter replaced. . .and there is still a LOT of fuel left in that line no matter what you do. . .thank God I did decide to go ahead and relieve the fuel pressure. . .can't imagine what kind of a disaster that would have been if I hadn't done that first!!!

Thanks for the help!!!

Not as big of a mess as you would think......

Can't say I've ever bothered to relieve fuel pressure before changing a fuel filter.
