I purchased about $600 in parts from them back in 2006 when the B2 was hit. The front bumper I got from them is beginning to spot rust.

I called them and told them this, and mentioned how the original bumper was from 1989 and had NO rust on it.

She said, well, "Were only supposed to warranty 6 months, but I'll send you a new one!"

I was shocked, it's been almost 2 years since I ordered it.

I asked how they wanted the old one back and she said they didn't want it.

Wuhoo!

I was really happy with the stuff i bought from them. I bought a floor pan and i kinda figured that it would be flimsy and wouldnt fit but i didnt have any problems with it. :icon_hornsup::icon_hornsup:

Its great to see that a company stand behind what they sell.Too many times you'll see a company get in attack mode if have a warranty/defective call.

That's cool. I'd just slap some paint on the other.

I agree, many places treat you like shit when you go to return something.

This is true...but having been on the receiving end of many questionable warranty calls I'd have to say many of them were not legitimate warranty issues...

Like the guy who had a product for three years and the company I worked for replaced the original while in warranty...then he called a year later and got another new unit free...when I got him and looked at the history I told him his original product was purchased three years ago so he had no warranty...he was not happy...said something about my genetics being out of whack or something like that and called me an a$$hole...

After several rounds of being polite and being called an a$$hole I thanked him for the compliment but told him I could never emulate him...then disconnected the call...

I own a small company that installs security systems.I put the standard 1 year warranty on anything I do.A defective product is a defective product. Abuse is another.Once cash exchanges hands the business relations do not stop there. The big thing is I sleep well at night knowing that I have not "screwed someone over" I have dealt with customers who call you an asshole or more colorful words, well I just say thank you and call ADT.Then they will see what kind of customer service they will get.So standing behind what you sell is very important.

I think most small business owners do the same and that's why I like to deal with them...not that they're pushovers or anything, but they just give better customer service so they can stay alive. And knowing and dealing with the owner is much more satisfying than dealing with some underpaid clerk.

I was working for a very large company and we did stand behind the product whenever possible...we (I) even went waaaaaay over the standard warranty many, many times...but my point was simply the customer isn't always right.

That mentality, from what I understand, is under reveiw by some large companys...the bottom line is profits and even when they are not losing money they simply have to draw the line somewhere...doing it nicely helps when you're the one giving the news, but some people are just unreasonable and try to take out their frustrations on anyone who will listen.

Ya, tell me about it, I work in a garage, and our warranty is quite clear, 1 year OR 20 000km, Whichever comes first. Simple, but you would not believe the amount of people who will come back 2 or 3 years later and say, you guys did my brakes, and now they're noisy. Ya, thats because they're worn out with the 3 years of driving and the 75 000km you drove. So many people try to get something for nothing. Its quite frustrating, when some people who are too cheap to buy something that is off warranty, or that they used incorrectly, or the damage is not covered by the warranty, complain that they didn't know that and it wasn't clearly marked. If people were to read the manuals products come with, and read everything, and not just thumbed threw them and then throw them out, returning an item or exchanging a damaged/defective item would be a lot easier. By people screwing companies on warranties, the companies will lose profits from lost time. They have to be picky now because, like what was mentioned before, some people try to stretch a warranty out or try to get something for free by damaging an old item and then trying to warranty it. I'm starting to draw it on now, but I'm glad to hear that LMC still cares for its customers. I'll continue to deal with them whenever I need to.

Well I feel I have a legit complaint. The original bumper still looked new, no rust whatsoever. This one is a lot more flimsy and is already rusting!

I hope the new one is better made.

It's quite surprising, actually, how many companies will replace items pretty much without question...I returned an office chair to Business Depot (now Staples) after about a year and a half...they replaced it with a new chair no questions asked...

I still have the replacment chair...and that was over 12 years ago that it was replaced...so I would say the first chair was somehow defective (the original chair had the back support broke off).

I guess depending on where they got the first bumper and where the second one came from could make a difference...or maybe you just got a "monday" bumper...

It's an odd type of rust.

Ever saw concrete with rust patches in it where the water has run and created a tail effect? This is how the rust spots on the bumper are. Pinhole in size, but the rust color is running down the chrome finish making it look like crap.

Sounds like the chrome plating didn't stick properly...I've seen that effect on a few bumpers...probably why I don't like anything chrome...at least with the painted bumpers you can sand them down and repaint...
