I have a 1993 ranger 4x4 4.0 xlt, 140,000 miles and there is a little red light on the dash below and to the left of the steering column. I do not know if this is stock or if its something the PO put in.
Anyone else have this?
Ive had the truck for four months now and its never once been lit up, until last night. I started it and it started fine, but the light was on and I dumped the clutch and killed the engine backing out of the parking spot cause I was paying too much attention to the light
When I tried to restart it, the engine wouldn't fire. I had to crank it for a while and give it some gas before it finally stumbled to life. never had a problem like this before.
Anyone know what this is? The light is still on even when I take the key out and lock the truck
Thanks

Whatever it is, it is not a factory piece. The PO probably put it in or had it put in, as far as what it is, it might have been part of some type of alarm or something...depending on how much your curiousity gets, you can trace the wires down and see what the light is hooked to....

The stumbling problem when trying to restart the truck is normal. It usually happens when you stall it. The fuel injectors keep firing for a split second when the engine dies, basically flooding it.

As for the red light, my uncle used to have a 92 Navajo with a light in same location. We never did figure out what it was though. He sold it a long time ago.

I have a little red light. its hooked up to an aftermarket KARR alarm system. I have the alarm in standby because I don't have the remote :( . But when I buy the remote I'll be happy because it's the most sensitive alarm ever!!! You can look at the truck and it goes off LOL

My little red light means shift before you hit the rev limiter................lol!

Thanks guys. It probably has something to do with an alarm system. Ill try tracing some wires

You're right. I should have thought of that sooner Here:

Never seen it before. I would trace the wires back to where it goes. You might have an alarm system or something. My truck did but it was completely unhooked and all the wires were cut.
