I have a 1998 Ranger 4X4 3.0, 5 speed. Lately I have been having a problem. The truck will act like it's running on 4 or 5 cylinders, missing, no power, but, if I turn the truck off and restart it, it is fine. This may happen 2 times on a twlve mile drive to work? Any ideas on what's wrong?

If you floor it does the problem seem to correct itself momentarily?

If so, this seems to be a theme lately.

I just replaced the fuel filter. And when you ask if it gets hot, do you mean to the point of overheating? If yes, no it is not hot, it can be stone cold in the morning or at operating temp when it does the loss of power thing.

If I floor it there is no power, it acts like it's getting too much gas or not enough, it just bogs.

Clean MAF and replace the O2 sensors.

I replaced all 3 o2 sensors and the egr sensor, sprayed the MAF with the MAF cleaner.

Will do. And I may as well do the coil, has the orig and the truck has 159k +.

Sounds like a spark issue to me. But coil wouldn't be my first bet...if it was the coil, it would run semi-properly when cold and like total crap once warmed up. When it bogs, is this at ANY time? Or is it just when you experience the problem? Do you have a CEL on?
