Iguess different years had little upgrades and whatnot, but I've seen a litlle strength bracket that would help keep the front shock stud from flexxing and maybe breaking off.

My 93 don't have it. I could fab one but its easier to buy if I knowed where it come from.

OR do i take the stud out and put a big assed bolt in there instead.

OR is it even gonna matter?

Anybody got an idea? cause its all off the truck right now an easy to chop/wreck/change....

In the trucks that I've looked/worked on, that piece your talking about is on [IIRC] '86/'87 rad arms. They could be on other years as well but I don't have personal experience. I used the rad arms from one of those trucks on my '91 so that I had a factory hole that I could use to measure from to install a "HELP" brand shock stud kit. At the same time I added a second shock per side. This is on my off road race truck. No signs of damage but there is limited miles as yet.

I did add a large washer on the side you can't see to help spread the load.

I believe either '88, or possibly mid-'90 was when they switched from the bolt & bracket setup to the fixed stud.
For sure the mid-'80s trucks will have the bolt & bracket style.

The shock brackets came on my 86.They give you trouble if you mod much. When I put 4" lift shocks on it I had to grind a bunch away. When I long armed it I had to take them off all together because of clearance issues.

Do you think I even need the brackets?

The studs ended up being ok after I blasted them.

I like the idea alwaysfloored had fer two shock mounts...but not jumping this thing, the rest of the truck is too rusty!!!
