ok, so i lost windows, it blew up, so i installed linux mint 11, but linux doesn't support itunes, or itunes doesn't support linux... idk, bt they don't work well together...

SO, i am currently running itunes inside of vmware player running windows xp... but my issue is now, how do i transfer files between linux and windows?

that might just be what i'm looking for! i'll have a better read of it tomorrow when i'm not procrastinating sleep... lol

see what i would love to have, is 2 folders, one in linux, one in vmware windows... i put something into the one in windows, it shows up in the linux one, put something into the linux one, bang, there it is in windows!

i dont know about vmware player but in virtualbox theres guest additions that you can install that map a drive from the host to the virtual machine I've used it on Slackware and (K)Ubuntu and never had any compatibality issues with it. you may try installing itunes with wine (Wine Is Not an Emulator).

tried itunes with wine, only makes my head spin.... lol, no seriously, itunes won't work with wine, it is minimally functional, and won't do anything you need it to

You can share a folder on one device and access it on the other. Either in XP and access it through an NFS map on linux, or set up Samba on the linux side and get to it the other direction.

That's greek to me man

Do you need the syncing ability or the iTunes store too? Quick google search reveals many ways to sync Apple devices with Linux.

Just syncing, I can iTunes stuff from my phone

I have looked into those programs, but from what I've heard, they don't work all that well, plus I need the ability to backup and restore my phone of needed, along with jailbreaking

iTunes and wine does not work. Trust me I have tried. There are a couple media players hosted on Linux that interface with Apple products. For the life of me I cannot remember what the are. Go into the software centre and search for ipod software.

ive used Amrok to put music on my olde 2gig ipod but it wouldnt work for backing up and restoring an ipod like itunes does, it also wont jailbreak it, and getting it to work with a ipod touch is a fairly big hassle

yeah, that's why i'm using vmware player...
