Hey guys...I have a 1990 Ford Ranger "custom"....In other words it's a hybrid of a couple different years....Plus it has been chopped and extended to have a 133" WB....So needless to say I have a manual tranny and no emergency brake cause the cable is missing and they don't make one for this truck..LOL So I was thinking bout putting a Line Lock brake system in it. Can anyone help me with that?

Grab one out of an 80-96 F150 with an 8' bed standard cab. They use the same axle as you've got. (Ford 8.8). It should be long enough but if it's not, grab one out of a extended cab with an 8' bed.

line locks are cool.. but don't cheap out! let me do some thread digging on another forum, there's a thread w/ a lot of info in it.

Unless he's upgraded it, the truck has a 7.5.

No the 7.5 and the 8.8 don't have the same ends, I'm having issues making my parking brake work and I've already compared them.

edit: they don't have the same ends where it connects to the drums/disk

while line locks function they are not LEGAL in substitution of a mechanical
parking brake.

Frankly if you are not mechanically competent enough to extend a 125"WB
parking brake cable to allow for your 133" Wheelbase, then franky the fact
that you are driving a truck with a modified frame on public roads scares
the sh!t out of me...

So I'm perfectly clear if you can extend your frame but cannot make a cable 8" longer I don't trust your abilities.

Don't be insulted by this (if you are, then any hope of gaining my trust is gone for eternity)
be INSPIRED by this...

Think of making a metal bracket or a double ended loop of cable...

OR as has been suggested above try using F-series cables, etc...

Line lock? GREAT idea, IN ADDITION TO a parking brake, not "in substitution for"

I'm not insulted by ur comment. However. I am insulted by ur ability to assume that I did any of it. If u woulda ask a question rather than assuming u would know that I bought the truck as a salvage titled vehicle and didn't have anything to do with the extension I'm ok with some mechanical stuff but that is why I'm here, to learn, not be treated like some dumb 16 yo that just hacked up a truck and can't even read a tape measure. I don't have a problem taking advice from u even now or anyone else However please don't assume. It just makes an ass outta u. Ask questions before u start bashing someone's intelligence or abilities. Thx for the help tho. I do appreciate that. That is pretty easy to do.

Got a good point there pipeliner. I know you specified that you bought the truck in it's present condition in your introduction post, but it does confuse some people that didnt read that. I know I would have thought you hacked up your own truck if I didnt read that you bought it that way. I also understand that youre insulted by AllanD by him making you look like a moronic redneck, but look at it from his P.O.V. He was just throwing suggestions out there, that's all.

Yes I agree with u Brinker I should stated that I bought it and I'm not angry or upset with AllanD. I'm just making the point. Dont assume anything. It just leads to problems. I have no issue with taking his advice on this post or any other that I post a question on. I guess I'm just a little touchy with assumptions. As a Marine in combat u didn't assume anything. Assumption lead to bad things. So I'm sorry if I'm touchy and came off harsh. I apologize AllanD
