when i floor my 97' ranger 4X4 (5R55E tranny) it revs to 3000rpm and just sits there for a few seconds and then finally starts to climb, it also misses/hesitates under load and i suspect a dirty MAF are the two related? for a while my CEL was on and occasionally flashing but it just went away and hasnt come on for over a month now. any information you guys could supply would be greatly appreciated :icon_confused:

Are you flooring it in park or when you're driving it? If the truck isn't being driven the computer limits the engine to about 3000 rpm.

have the codes pulled and get back to us.

theres a reason they call it "on-board diagnostics".

when im driving, if i rev it when parked the limiter cuts in around 5000rpm

if a check engine light ever flashes then that means your engine is experiencing a misfire condition
