I know this is a few months old but was trying to do basically the same thing (except I'm converting a 7.5 truck to an 8.8) Ranger 4:10 limited slips are sort of rare and the only one i could come up with was both shagged (clutches completely worn out and side gears iffy) and very very rusty. You're looking for an R7 door code. Also hollander interchange says they are all interchangeable so make sure if you buy a whole axle to get a guarantee you're getting a track lock.
Ford has discontinued the 28 spline 8.8 track lock but you can find used ones on Ebay, also you can find new 28 spline true track, Detroit lockers, and eaton posi / yukon. FRPP Clutches will set you back between 100 and 170 depending on weather you get carbon or not. IBO the True Trac is the best choice for a mostly street truck.
IMO, you're better of to keep your diff and just change the carrier, if you use a quality aftermarket or good used ford there's a pretty fair chance your factory shims will be fine. If you're gonna re use the gears, take a gear pattern, pinion preload and backlash reading before you take it apart.
There is a ton of good tech here on TRS on the 8.8 and the ins and outs of different years.
There literally days and days worth of you tubes on setting up a 8.8. :twocents
