i have a 2002 ranger that the light in the cab stay on for a while when its started can any one tell me how to fix it please or tell me where the door light switches are thanks

The light door ajar switches are in the latches. On the loop side, its the rubber booted plunger in the loop.

I'm not aware of a good way to tell which one is bad without a scanner than can see those pids.

I had/have the same issue. Spray WD40 in driver and passenger door latches, problem solved. I have to re-apply about every 6 months

oh god you could go through all that trouble or just w40 both latches once every 6 months

Does your overhead dome light have a switch that you can turn it on with? Make sure that switch is not in the on position. Just some info....

If its the one that came with the truck it dont
I would use a dry-film lubricant instead of WD-40.

This is in the tech library, if your interested in reading it:

I disagree with that teh library. WD40 has worked great for a long time in my ranger

I had that problem once. One of my buddy's slammed my passenger door shut hard. After that, the dome light would stay on. And shortly after that problem, my buddy was looking for another ride. Sorry, I don't like people slamming my doors. But lucky, after a little lube, and more gentle shutting of doors. The problem went away.
