lights pulsing

my lights will pulse sometimes at the same time my alt guage pulses. they quit when i unplug my alt so does that mean my alt is making it do it. if it was wiring wouldnt it keep doing it after i unplug my alt? thanks for the help.

It is indeed your alternator. The reason it stops when you unplug it, is because it is then running off of the battery. While the alternator is plugged in, it will use the alternator.

It could be just the brushes, and they are easy to fix, and cheap. I have a thread on it here:
