Well im starting to look for my next project,

The engine im using will be a 4.0ohv, completely gone threw and built up, 200hp n/a....

So since the underpower engine, im needing the lightest ranger made.

I know its gonna be a reg cab, but what gen? stepside or fleet side..

Also what does it weight in at?

fleet sides are lighter by about 80lbs. you'll want a 2wd obviously. with no power options, manual steering (if you want to nit-pick).

the lightest gen 1 is about 100lbs lighter than the lightest gen 2 or 3, tipping in at about 2800lbs.

Why 2wd? What is his application? 200HP is kool, go check out supersixmotorsports.com and see what they have to help you break the 200hp mark. I would think any year single cab, short bed with 5 spd will suit you. The weight difference between all years of the same model shouldnt hurt you too bad. divide the hp (200) by the projected GVW and it will give you the hp:weight ratio. Should end up being 1hp:20lbs or sumthing. In other words drpping that much weight would be equivalent to gaining 1 hp.

im sayin tho, without knowing his next project. does he only do street trucks? does he want the lightest 4x4?

I know 4wd is lighter than 2wd. give me some credit. then read slower, i asked what his application was...street or off road?

I've gutted alot off my 97. Of course it's a 2.3 2wd single cab short bed. This summer I had a couple heavy coolers in the back, and pulled onto an empty truck scale. Came in at 2960 with a driver and passenger.

yea 2wd of coarse, well what gen would be eaiser to swap a 4.0ohv(obviously one that didnt come with a 4.0 stock)

3rd gen rangers have slightly better aerodynamics. If you put a performance suspension with a slight drop (don't slam it or bumps will kill your kidneys) you'll improve from a brick to a rounded brick.

No, 2wd is light cause you don't have the front axle, extra driveshaft, and T Case... Unless you ment that you knew 2WD is Lighter Than 4x4, in that case ok.
