Another project for me this week. Building this light bar. It will be perfect for mounting my 6 inch 150 watt lights. It will be mounted (hopefully) in between the two brackets on the opposite sides of my front receiver.
It is not a perfect fit yet, but will make some tweaks to it and maybe send it out to get powder coated later on before I mount it permanently. I got the help of a friend and his scrap metal to help me build this. I will finish it up next week whrn I get the time (maybe another week after) and get it premounted and then tweaked to perfection and then I will see about the powder coating.

This is where I want to get it mounted. I figure the two metal brackets in between the 2 inch receiver are strong enough to hold it tightly.
I am planning on using ½ inch stainless bolts for each side to mount it in place.

Looks really good.

Do you have more pics of that steering stabilizer?
I need a new thing to keep my mind busy since im finishing my rollbar. LOL

Yes, I do, Bro. I just took some for a buddy in California. He wants to add one to his older Ranger. I will download the pics tomorrow and get them posted for you. I had to weld a bracket to mount the shock, but that was a 5 min. job to get the bracket welded on.

I like it! That's a good idea using the front receiver.

Ive always liked how it looks on your truck, and seems like an interesting idea if i can make my own stabilizer. Maybe now that i have no sway abr it could be for a good help
Thanks :icon_cheers:

Well, actually, it is going to be mounted on the area where the bumper brackets are seen on the opposite sides of the receiver. See those 2 brackets that are visible in the photo? It will be attached there. My portable winch will fit perfect with the light bar mounted there. Maybe offer a bit of protection as well. I will be playing with it. I brought it home last night and I will add a few more photos of it and then I hoe to get the time to tweak it a bit and get it mounted next week or the week after...got too much going on this time of the year.

Thanks for the compliment, Bro!!!

Ok, Bro,

Here is the mounting tab I welded on. I did the suspension lift and the stabilizer shock the same week back in 2001. This is the new shock I added last year. I wanted to update it to a Ford blue rubber housing and a Ford decal and a much cleaner shock…lol. Ignore the WD40 drips there in the photo. I was trying to clean a few things up while I got under the truck to take these photos...lol

Here is the way I mount the shock to the steering area (hydraulic steering setup)

Another shot so you can see how the setup looks

Thanks for the pics Straycat!
looks amazing, now i do have something to do when i finish the roll bar.
How do you secure it under the steering tie rod? U type clamp?

Yes, it is a u-clamp. It has four bolts that secure the clamp. You can see the 4 bolts in the background of the mount where the shock it bolted to there. Simple to setup. It took me about 20 min. total to mount it and do the welding for the front bracket mount. Not too bad for a cripple, Eh??

Question on your front mount hitch. Is that a welded on hitch or bolt on?

I saw the bolts, yes, but i just wanted to be sure.
Looks really good.
Got a good improvement out of it?
maybe my 31s arent that heavy to actually need it, but looks really cool.
Wonder how a yellow shock would look on mine :icon_idea:
What spec shock do you use?

I mounted it some years ago. I will get some photos of it tomorrow and you can see how it is mounted. It is a Reese 2 inch receiver hitch.
