'98 Ranger, 4'' lift, and seats torn to sh*t!

Of course its only the left side of the seat where your butt scootches to get in...

Wondering if anyone has had the same problem? If I should pay the $150 bucks for reupholster or, continuing finding defeat in the junkyards?

Comments?

All The Best,

Hooper.

I'd get them reupholstered, and then install some steps so you don't scootch yer butt as much on them haha

Yep, I've run into that same problem. Plus I tend to carry a pocket knife in my back pocket, so the clip sometimes catches on the seat and makes a hole too.

also install an "oh shiat" handle so that you can grab ahold and pull your self up instead of scootching across the seat.

Well, my Navajo seat is torn on the left, and it's at stock ride height. I know it sits higher than the same year Ranger, though... I'm just gong to sew it myself.

Seen it a lot.

My truck's original driver's seat was really bad, and mine isn't even lifted. Used to have running boards too. It's something about the way my dad gets in and out of cars because every car he has ever been the primary driver of has done it.

I have no tears in my seats in my lifted Ranger or in any of my other lifted rides. My Ranger is a 99 and I bought it new. Maybe you are just too short....lol

Get decent seat covers and enjoy them!!!

my b2 and my explorer are messed up on the left side and they're both at stock height....for now. the b2 is really bad, but it's over 20 years old

Perhaps your style of entry is flawed ? My seats are still in one piece-

Just use the run and jump technique lol. That's what my 5' 2" girlfriend has to do lol. But yes, rbv upholstery seems to be very weak. Get them reupholstered with stronger material. The newer rbv material seems to be much more durable. I'd say just use the wet okole covers. It's made of wetsuit material, amazing stuff

Someone needs to invent the hydraulic ass lift for all you ass draggers. You could also try spraying your butt with WD40 so it slips across the seat when you enter.

Well, my seat was fine up until I came home from the Army with a bad left ankle - I have to sit down on the seat with my back to the truck, then rotate in. Can't just step in. :annoyed:

The parents '94 Explorer had the seat redone once and it needed it done again when they got rid of it. 110% stock but mom (the primary driver) is kinda short at 5'-2". She really blows smoke when has to climb up in my Ranger. :D

My JY Explorer seats could use redone in the same place too, but the current plan is to find lowback buckets that will fit in my extended cabn better and turn these into Xbox chairs... so I don't intend to fix them.
