What is the best way to lift my Ranger 3-4"?
Mainly to fit bigger tires. The ideal tire size for me would be 33-35" Mud Terrains. There are a lot of ways I've read about with twisting the torsion bars and putting blocks in the rear, and also body lifts. Just wondering what would be most reliable, as it will see some off road use, mainly mud.

Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately suspension lifts for your truck are rather spendy. Unless you want to shell out the $$ for one, with cranked Torsion Bars and and body lift, 33's shouldn't be a problem.

Thank you very much for your reply. Just having trouble getting started. This may seem like a newbie question, but what would be the best way to crank the torsion bars? Also, with a Ranger, what other things would need to be done with a body lift?

Thanks

Just make sure you crank them evenly (and not too much) or it'll be lopsided. There is an article in the Tech Library at the top of the page that tells you how to do it, among many many other things.

You'll probably need a shifter extension and steering shaft extension, but a good body lift kit will come with that. Performance Accessories has one for about $100.

Taking the weight off the suspension will make it much easier to turn the torsion bar adjusters.
Also, don't worry if the bolts are not threaded in an equal amount from the factory (they usually aren't), just make sure you adjust them in an equal number of turns so it stays level side-to-side.

Thanks for the help and info everybody.
We were thinking blocks in the back and torsion bars in the front. Good way to do it?
Possibly a body lift also.

Get the Belltech 6400 shackles instead of blocks.

I agree with cranking the bars and body lift and the belltechs, you don't want to stack blocks, shackles also wont increase axle wrap and will flex better.

They won't increase the axle wrap as much as blocks. They do a small amount though.

Could I have a website for these shackles?
How much lift do they provide?

No, shackles shouldn't affect axle wrap.

Axle wrap is an effect of the axle's leverage on the leaf spring. Blocks change this (making a bigger "lever" for the axle to work with against the spring), whereas shackles do not.

Shackles can affect pinion angle to some degree however, although it's usually insignificant.

Doesn't cranking the torsion bars in a sense level the truck? Does he really need to do anything to the rear?

I think unless you want to keep the "rake" the shackles aren't needed....

If you have a 5spd you'll need a shifter extension. Bumper plates ro readjust the bumpers, etc, etc. Most of this stuff should be included in the new kit.

In my opinion, A torsion crank and BL is the cheapest way to get 33's under the newer SLA Rangers. This is the way I'd probably do it.

Now, superlift does have a 4" kit for the ranger.

I haven't heard anything about these, just laying out the options and playing devils advocate......

Edit: Alignment, Alignment, Alignment!
