lifting the powertrain

Want to know what you think about that one. I have a 3 inch pa on my 03 level II, i planned to put a skid plate underneat and everything is lower then the frame then i tought why not raise the powertrain 3 inch to clear the frame and do a full skid plate bolted under the frame. The support tab for the engine are perfectly placed for a 3 inch spacer to be put in and i could make a new transmission crossmember that would hold the skid at the same time has i also plan on removing the torsion bar for coilover in the front. It would also solve my trouble with my oem shifter bezel that doesnt fit anymore has both shifter would return to the right distance off the floor.

I've done it with a jeep using "off the shelf parts", so other then needing custom made parts i think it is very possible to do a drive train lift in a ranger, just make sure you have enough slack in the hoses, and cables. Oh and take lots of pictures if your able.

One issue you aren't considering is that raising the powertrain also raises
your center of gravity...

well i didnt have a choice, had to raise it 3 inch so my upper link for the sas would pass where we wanted it. So far its great and the switch in center of gravity isnt that bad. Had a few scary moment but now that i know how it reacts its really steady. now just need to make the skid.

im putting a metal plate about 1/2" thick between the trans and the mount, then another 1/2" plaate between the mount and the xmember. that will let me run a flat or "belly up" skid and have 1/2" of room between it and the tcase
