I got an '86 ranger and was looking to do about a 3 inch body lift for now and puttin 35's on their. Think they would fit if i cut the fenders???? Or should i just put 33's on it and cut the fenders anyway.

Thanks,

better question is...does it have a dana 28/7.5 rear ? if so forget 35s.

instead of a body lift consider doing leveling coils or spacer in the front and blocks or add a leafs in the back. youll get about the same heighth for a little bit more and get more out of your time and money.

35s work so long as you dont wheel it or press the skinny pedal often

Do a budget 2" suspension, 3" body and a fender trim and you can clear 35's, but you'll want to upgrade at least your front axle and you'll want 4.56 or deeper gears.

You can clear 35's with less than that, but you're gonna be trimming a lot of fenders. I have a custom 5" suspension and a 2" body lift on my choptop and I'm not sure yet how 35's are going to fit, 33's are a lil small. But 33's were more than enough to kill a D-28 front axle, so I want to upgrade the axle before putting the larger treads on. I may or may not have to massage the fenders for 35's.

What kinda axle should i get for 33's?? and what gears? i dont know much about that stuff...so any info would help

Dana 35, there is a write up in the tech library you should take a look at about the swap. Id would say 4.56s gears would probally get it done.

A 7.5" rear will hold up to 33's just fine, although an 8.8" rear is a lil stronger.

You'll want a D-35 front for sure. If you leave the D-28 open, it might be fine, but if you lock it, all bets are off. I've broke my share of axle shafts.

4.10 gears will work, that's whats in my choptop and it goes just fine. 4.56 might be a lil better.

Yeah, if you have the d28, trash it for sure. You don't want to find your self screwed on a trail somewhere. D35 in the front and 8.8 in the rear, and you'll be just fine. 4.56 or 4.10's FTW!

i have 33's on mine with 4.10's, i have a stick shift and a little 2.3,the only thing it doesnt like is the begining of 4th and all of 5th gear (around 55mph). you will do ok as long as you don't lock any of the axle's.
