Lifthatch struts replacement

Hi! I ordered one set of lifthatch struts that were supposed to fit my 1987 Eddie Bauer Bronco II and they ended up 3" to long to fit. I ordered another pair that were the right length to fit but they were made for lifting the rear glass (?) that didn't work once installed. Anyone know of a pair that will fit and function correctly?

Rockauto has them.

I tired some ebay ones and they didn't last. The RockAuto ones seem to be holding up good.

The Duff hood struts are amazing. I’m about to order some for my 84.

Yep the Ebay ones suck, I think they worked twice, my head holds the rear hatch up, and its a pain in the ass to open as the struts not only are supposed to hold it up, they're also supposed to assist on lifting it.

Sounds like maybe you guys are just picking the cheapest no-name ones you can find on Ebay...
Yeah you'll get plenty of junk that way.

I had bought ones off Ebay probably about 8 years ago (they were from Wisconsin Auto Supply, though I can't remember if W.A.S. was also the name of the vendor or not, but that is the brand logo on the struts themselves). They are just now starting to lose some of their *oomph* to hoist up the hatch on their own (but will still hold it if you lift it up manually).

Unfortunately I am not finding these particular ones on there currently, so I may end up replacing them with these:

FWIW, I have a friend who has the Duff hood struts on his Explorer... They just barely hold his hood up (and only if it's above 60°F or so). However I don't know if the Explorer hood is heavier than a 1st-gen BII hood or not (a 2nd-gen BII hood I do know is the same as the Explorer).
