Lifters

I just had oreillys order in some new lifters for the 4.0. And ouch on the pocket book what do you guys think about reusing lifters, especially high mileage ones, I know supposedly they cab be disassembled and cleaned, but is that enough also a few were missing the little cups at the top and need to be replaced so what about mixing new and used. I know just run all new, it's just my budget is over budget lol. I'm trying to figure out how to hide it from the wife

Rockauto has cheapest for about $12 a piece... so 144 for a set. Don't know of the quality, but if you have to tear it apart, might as well get them all

as with a whole bunch of random stuff for whatever reason there's a national lifter shortage...

4.0L's aren't really known for loud valvetrain so I probably wouldn't be too concerned about reusing. If they're spendy reuse what you can and mix and match as you wish...

Ya they are spendy I orderd melling lifters they price matched rock auto at 32$ea

I thought abut trying the Mizumo units.


I have installed the northern pushrod/rocker kits before for others ..

Meh. Decent for the money...but pulling the heads for lifters... I am tempted to roll the dice on used engines .... Cheaper.

Ya I really thought about a used engine but the pickings were slim round here. Also I really wanted to end up with a reliable long term engine. The thing still ran well even burning a bunch of oil with a cracked head, had 2-3 hundred thousand miles on the clock, if I can get 200000 out of this rebuild I would be happy. Would be cool to maybe one day make it out for a round up.
