The other morning I started up my truck for the first time in 3 weeks. It was cold out probably around 35F. It had been below freezing for a few nights before. Anyhow started up the truck and herd a ticking sound from the motor. Sounded like a lifter re-priming itself. It would tick for a few seconds and quit, so on for about 3 min. Then it stopped. No more noise for the rest of the day. Running great. Does this sound like the lifter lost is prime as if the valve spring pressure had pushed the oil out of the lifter while it had been sitting or just cold oil? 93 4.0ohv. Running 10w30. 40k on motor. Any help greatly appreciated. No problems before but usually dont let truck sit as long between drives.

probably.

If it went away don't worry about it.

Hydraulic camshafts and their associated lash adjusters (lifters)
are hardly perfect.
