Hi all just rebuilt my motor and like an idiot i used ebay lifters and they are totally collapsed, so i gotta do it again but i wanna get good ones obviously but sealed power are $45 a lifter! Whats everyones opinion about dnj lifters? They are $17 a pop, thanks!

Did you bench bleed them before you installed them?? If not they may be good and just have air in them. It can take just about forever to get the air out without bench bleeding.

How do u bench bleed? I soaked them in oil for like 2 weeks while i was waiting for other parts and machine work etc, either way im getting new ones that arent ebay garbage if im gonna have to be going in there again

Do i just push on the plunger with a pushrod until no air comes out and or i cant push them any more? I feel like they would bleed themselves tho if thats the case..

They will bleed themselves. But, it can take like forever.

The lifters have a small oil inlet hole and a spring loaded check valve. Usually a small ball with a spring behind it. When I bench l pump them submerged in oil and when they get stiff I use a non metal (wood or plastic) to open the ball. With manual pressure on the lifter, that will collapse the lifter and let the trapped air out. Repeat until no air.

They may still tap a bit; but, not as loud or for as long.

The tapping is horrible and i hate listening to it on my brand new motor.. Should i just let them try to bleed themselves or swap them out for a superior product? I actually was able to get sealed power lifters on ebay for $19 a lifter! Super stoked about that.

The tapping has actually gotten worse, so i just feel its collapsed, but like i say when its cold they dont tap as loud (obviously higher oil pressure).

Well I can't believe all 12 are bad. And, if you bled them and they didn't get better are you sure you put the right parts in there??

It probably isn't all 12, but I have to agree with doing all of them at once, even though they are expensive.

The head has to come off to remove the lifters, doesn't matter if it's one or 6. Since on the 4.0 both heads and the lower intake are torqued as a set if you remove one head you should do both.

By that time I would just do all the lifters.

Yeah of course all 12 no point.. Why waste my time and money on a head gasket kit and bolts! And no its just one of the lifters for the #6 valves, but i figure theyre ebay sh*t and theyre all gonna collapse at some point... Guess u gotta learn by your mistakes doing it twice really sucks tho! On a positive note they refunded me my $100 :)

Hey everyone started tearing into it and noticed this on my rocker arms on the valve end of them. I see it on the ones that made the most noise the #5 and #6 exhaust valves. Maybe this is the noise? I had delta cam send me there rocker shafts.. So obviously these were new (well the ends werent all work in like that)

Think thats enough to cause the noise? I heard it loudest on the headers (yes they are headers) makes sense that it would transfer the noise thru the exhaust valve into the header. Thoughts and input would be appreciated thanks.

Also i only have the drivers side valve cover off right now but i pushed really hard on the pushrods and couldnt get any movement out of them...

The valves have taken some beating on the ends.. These heads were new with valves all assembled in them

I have a 410 comp cam and used 5.550" overall length pushrods. This is correct is it not?

Im thinking my issues may be with those valves and rockers, maybe the geometry is off and wearing weirdly? And im sorry the wear is occuring on the intake valves.

These parts have 500 miles on them something is definitely off, i used royal purple breakin oil and lubed the heck out of everything with assembly lube. Dont know whats wrong...?

How much lash did you leave? I'm not very knowledgeable about this stuff so will hope to learn.

So i brought the rocker shaft into a machinist today and he said that the valves arent being loaded hard enough so either i have coil bind or the pushrods are incorrect length, now by the fact that its happening on some and not other makes me think that i have coils binding. That said tho ill still get a pushrod length checking tool and see if my geometry is off. If not ill have him put in the dual spring setup..
