i have a 1998 ford ranger and it just developed a lifter tick. i have search eveywhere and cant find any info on how to adjust the lifters on a 2.5

thanks
jake

as far i know theyre self adjusting
mine has it too
nothing to worry about
try a lighter oil and flush it
mine decreased when i did this

welcome to TRS by the way

well it started after i changed the oil when i bought it i have no clue what it had in it it was last serviced by ford so probably 5-30 then i changed it with 10-30 synthetic you think that may be it.

but so what your saying is they are non adjustable?

yeah thats what my mechanic told me, theyre not adjustable, he told me that maybe replacing is the only way, but not worth to tear the engine apart for it. just turn up the radio volume lol
and i use 10W-30 on mine but mineral

yeah, they're full hydraulic so non adjustable, I've heard of sticking dimes under the lifters to give them a little more preload...

it's really not all that hard to get to them, take the throttle body off then the valve cover and pry the rockers off then the lifters just lift out

sticking dimes?
and hows that done?
im interested if thats a cheap fix and reliable
how do u assure em to stay in place?

the lash adjusters just sit in holes in the head, apparently you just stick the dimes under the lash adjusters then put the lash adjusters back in and reassemble, I just heard about this like a week ago...
