Im having some trouble finding a lift for my 2002 Ford Ranger stepside. 4x4. i found one from i think it was superlift or something. but they say it could go out at 20 to 30 thousand miles. any good lift dealers for my year truck? thanks guys

No super lift is the cheapest lift out there right now, I read if you get there heavy duty drive shaft it last's longer.

im not worried bout price but im havin some trouble just finding one for my year truck

I think there are only two companies that make a lift for that year right now superlift and someone else. superlift is a 4" lift the other is a 5" i think but its way more expensive. if you look in the tech library it should have it there

your exactly right it was a 4" inch lift... and thanks.

I have the same year truck and i've been looking at the lifts but there to pricey for me. I think you should be fine with that superlift lift if you get the heavy duty driveshaft

how long would you expect that drive shaft to last?

I personally dont know how long it would last but i would guess about a little shorter life span than the stock driveshaft at stock height

RCD makes or made a 5.5" lift kit for around 2.5 grand. Not sure if they're still in production.

I just e-mailed fab-tech to see if they are going to make a lift kit ill post the reply as soon as i get it.

from what i hear a ds from a first gen explorer will fit perfectly on superlifted trucks, runs about 50 bucks at a junkyard. are they really talking about the front ds wearing quickly? i figured it was cv's cuz you can go through em quick on the superlifted trucks.

I looked at all of the lift, too many times and missed the RCD sell off.
Ended up with buying a SuperLift, long lead times right now, waiting to get it.
Hopping to get a little more than the 4" Lift.

As of right now their is only ONE suspension lift kit available for someone that want to JUST lift their truck and is not into the heavy Off-Road'g and it is SuperLift.
If you want to make the track with wider and spend $3000+ doing it then there are others but they are not just a lift.
Dixon makes the truck wider and you need either WIDE wide fender flares or new fiberglass fenders your call.

There is a guys on Ranger-Forum that is making Coil-Over Setup for the '98+ Ranger and they go well with the SL Kit; I know he made some a while back but not sure if he is still taking new orders.
The Coil-Overs will not give you more lift just a better ride and stability.

Their is always the BODY LIFT, I don't like them but I may need to go with a small myself to get the lift I am THINKING I want, time will tell.

If you want to run the 33" (285x75 or the 305 x 70) tires, the SL Kit is all you need if you want to go to 35 then you have to start thinking SL + BL.

Luck,

What goes out is the rear CV on the front shaft. When the differential is dropped down further away from the frame, the angle of the rear joint is put in an almost bind. I only got 4,000 miles(if that) out of my stock shaft(the kit went on at 70,000). Yet others report 30,000. When the joint goes, it'll make the truck shake and make the front end feel like it's falling apart. The fix is either getting the $450-550 Superlift shaft or making your own using a 95-97 Explorer front shaft, shorten it, and use an adaptor to join the 98+ CV Tcase bucket to the explorer double cardon shaft. I built mine using all new components for under $300...can be done using a junkyard shaft for under $200. You'll end up with a shaft exactly like the Superlift shaft for about half the price.

IMO, the Superlift is a very good kit....the best one of the 3 that were made for 98+ Rangers. Trailmaster had a 4" that was very similar to the Superlift but used balljoint spacers, which in my opinion is kinda sketchy. The 5" RCD needed work ontop of the $2500-3000 price tag....saggy coils, diff drop bracket that snaps in half, and the fact that it's only designed for 98-02 trucks....anyone 03+ would have to downgrade their front brakes to smaller rotors. Only problem with the Superlift is the crappy sway bar end links.

Only kit in production for 98+ 4x4 Rangers that's just a plain lift kit is the 4" Superlift for the price of $1500. The other option is the long travel Dixon Brothers kit which gets you approx 3-4" of lift and tons of wheel travel for the price of upwards of $8,000. Camburg may offer a 98+ 4x4 kit, but I am unsure of that.

Just got an e-mail back from fab-tech they said they do not have any plans for making a lift for the ranger:bawling:
