Hey guys i know this question is asked alot but ima ask it again. I have a 94 ranger 2wd reg cab and im looking to put just enough of a lift to put some 31inch tires on. From research iv found out that i can achieve that by using lift springs and blocks in the back however iv heard the blocks in the back can give a rough ride. Is this true? or should i just say screw it and put an add a leaf in plus i was hoping some of you could put some pics up of your 2wd with a just a 2inch lift. Any other suggestions are welcomed. Thanks much appreciated

The thing I've heard that blocks do is give you excess axle wrap. But I think thats only if you race or tend to do a lot of heavy accelerating. I've used steel blocks, in the past, and have had no problem with them. Probably a 2inch block lift would be good enough. Unless you just want to go higher. Id add a leaf if I want to go higher than 3 inches, but that would be with a block/leaf combo...
What are you using in the front?

well heres the thing im still doing a lot of research but what iv been able to find is a kit that skyjacker makes that uses a spring lift in the front and add a leaf in the back that way im not using any blocks in the back i just think that using a block might give me a stiffer ride. I had another thought today if i do put 31inch tires on it will i have to worry about changing any gear ratios?

Using an add-a-leaf will give you a stiffer ride than using blocks. Lift blocks have no effect on ride quality, but (as stated above) can increase axlewrap. You can also use Belltech 6400 shackles for about 1 3/4" lift in the rear. Shackles also have the benefit of increasing your rear suspension articulation. They run about $60 from Summit. You could snag some 2" lift blocks from a 4x4 ranger in the scrapyard for next to nothing. Another option would be using 4-door Explorer leaf springs for about 1 1/2"-2" of lift. You can use the whole leaf pack or make some franken-packs by mixing in some of the ranger leaves as well.

Ok well that gives me lots of options im still woundering about the gearing and i have one last question because im lifting my truck and im pretty sure ill need new shocks..how do i go about calculating the length i would need?

probably the easiest way would be to look on summitracing.com. Under shocks and struts in the suspension components section you can search for shocks in the range you're looking for, ie: 0"-2", 1"-3". Either of those lengths should work for your application

awesome...thanks guys for all the help now i just have to go out and spend the money lol

about your shoick question

your only going up 2", your stock shocks will work just fine, it's when you go 3" or higher you will need aftermarket sizing.
