Hey all, I am looking for a skid plate just for a little protection underneath, but every skid plate I seem to look at it says something like "this skid plate plate fits with most lifts" so it sounds like you have to have a lift for it to fit...true? Because I can't get a suspension lift (I don't exactly have $1,500 sitting around haha) but I would maybe like to get a PA 3" body lift so a skid plate would be nice. Thanks everyone.

Ummm I really dont think you need a lift for skid plates... they just say that cause when you have a lift stuff gets moved around under there a bit... But if I were you go to some wrecking yards... there are rangers out there with stock skid plates, you could probly pick them up cheap:D

Yeah, I'll go take a look at some junkyards around town. I got the stock plastic piece of garbage on mine still, one of the corners on it is already destroyed haha. If I can't find one, I'll call places, like Summitt or something and talk to them to see if it'll work, but that's probably like asking a barber if you need your haircut...

Ford put plastic skid plates on the Ranger? That's gay, mine came with a Stainless one. I thought that was what all of them had one them.

mine didn't (well i'm the 2nd owner, and i've only had it for about a year and a half, so i guess it could have), but it just has a plastic piece that fits under the radiator, but one of the corners is broken so it sags (well, i actually just went out and jerry-rigged it with some plumbers strapping, so it'll work for now) but i want to get an actual skid plate underneath -- was just wondering if i needed a superlift to get the superlift skid plate, or just any skid plate. because like i said i can't afford a suspension lift

no, you don't need a lift to run a skid plate, all though you may want one.

check the tech library and look at the lifting on a budget and the chevy spring swap sections

ok thanks, i will do that for sure - so far i've just been thinking of cranking the torsion bars, but i'll go to the tech library in a minute and see what else there is
