Ive got the shock off and the sway bar assembly off and the spring and spring retaining nut & washer off. There is another nut on that bolt. Do I take it off and put the washers under it or do I put the washer on top of that nut? Got it apart now need some quick help on this. PS that nut was a PIA!! But I got it!

It is, but do I take it off and put the washers under it? and then put it back on? That's what I need to know.

I'm off to the hardware store to get the washers now, If you all could help me out on this I would really appreciate it!

you leave the stud there.... your washers should fit tight around that hex at the bottom, and they should all be welded together so they dont slip around

I went to get washers and no one had washers 1 3/8 inside dia, or 3" outside dia. The ones I got were one 1" inch dia inside 2 1/2" out side. And they were like 27$, hell for that price I can get spacers and do it right! I don't have a welder and if I just put them around the nut, that's not going to give me all the lift I need. I need 2" each side. I'm going to call Performance Parts tomorrow and see what the have or get those f150 spacers from ford tomorrow.

Actually, I'm going to get the spacers. The lift thread said you didn't need to weld them, but if you need more lift than the thickness of the retaining nut, you would have to weld them cause it would be unstable. I think the other nut could be taken off and then put the washers on under it and then put the spring cradle assembly on like it was it would safely lift the whole spring cradle up, but I guess if it were safe someone would have already posted it? I'll just wait and see what I can get for it tomorrow. I've already spent $12.00 for the twist in spacers, junk! took em back, and $29.61 on stupid washers:annoyed:. So I guess what I'm trying to say is sometimes it just pays to spend the money up front and do it right!:icon_idea:

That thing that looks like a nut that's left... isn't. It's part of the stud. If you unscrew it you will find that there is only a short length of threads on the other side of it which holds the radius arm to the axle beam. So there is no safe way to stack washers under that and gain height. Just FYI.

I had thought about trying to get a couple of the spring perches from a junkyard when I did my choptop. but the way the rust is around here in PA I decided I might be better off just buying new. I have seen those same perches on 2wd F-350 trucks as well.

Gotcha. So your saying that bolt doesn't go all the way through to the bottom? I thought that would have been a long ass bolt! LOL I'm gonna call Ford and the 4wheel place and see which is cheaper, the f150 spacers or the aftermarket 4x4 stuff. Got the back wheels on, look pretty good!

What's the easiest way to tell if your wheels are gonna scrub? They look like they have plenty of room, but when you get on the trail, you never know when you start flexing, ya know?

Thats going to look awesome. Im going to guess that the f-150 spacers are going to cost more. last i heard one was 20 bucks and the other was 70 something. They are discontinuing them so the cost has gone up and they are getting harder to find.

Yeah, when I was looking for them, the one was $90 CDN, and the other side was non-existent because they discontinued. However... I've got a set I'd sell. If you'd pay shipping, PM for deetzzz... yo!

On a 4x4 there is no way the bolt could go all the way through to the bottom... the axle shaft is in the way! :thefinger:

That said... on 2wd trucks, it is just a long-ass bolt. I have a pair around here somewhere.... something like a 3/4 x 10" bolt.:icon_surprised:

Easiest way I found to tell if they'll scrub is to find something to flex on and a buddy to keep an eye on things. Heck, I even flexed my Ranger out in front of the place I was renting for college...

When I bought mine one was $22 and one was $18 and they had to order them in because it wasn't a normally stocked item. I also had another dealer tell me that it would be $28 for one and $40 for the other... I had to call around to see who was willing to order me them for a reasonable price. But at the time there was 6 local Ford dealers and another 2 up at college so I had plenty to pick from. Most were around $20 each though.

Yeah that was kind of the price i was expecting when i talked to the parts distribution center about them. They got expensive haha. So the bolt is a 3/4 X 10''? Ive been needing a set but have no idea what size.

I have no idea if that is really the correct size or not... I pulled the bolts 5-6 years ago when I tore out the 2wd suspension in my choptop. I think I know where I can find them to measure, but I just took a guesstimate cuz I remember they were big!

Im gonna have to find me some at the junk yard. Everytime i go though they only have one or two rangers and none are 4x4
