license plate lights

So has anyone found a better solution than the cheap license plate lights that come on rangers? I have two but on likes to work off and on with no real reason why. wiring is good and clean and used a thin layer of dielectric grease on the connections. I'd like to convert to LED but those bulbs are a little more pricey. Just seeing if any one has cam up with a better solution for these. I've also got another bumper I'm planning on putting on because my factory one is rusting, badly!

I put a new socket on mine a few years ago.

I also had a lens fall apart, replaced with a JY one from a 2000's F-150.

Haven't really had much issue with mine over the years.

Yes, the older Rangers used those press in sockets that work great as long as the material doesn't break down in them. I had to splice in two new sockets to fix my bulbs shaking loose and attracting unwanted attention from Law Enforcement.

Short of that they held up pretty good for being in a location that gets quite a bit of vibration...so maybe check the sockets for play in the bulb...check LMC to see if they carry replacement sockets...

Yes, they do carry them...not bad price either...probably worth it if the nearest junkyard is far enough away.
