Im at a dilema and looking for any advice or suggestions out there? would be appreciated. Im trying to do this on a budget...dont really want to spend more than a few hundred bucks if i dont have to.

So I have my torsion bars cranked, almost entirely now. My truck was sagging a little in the rear so I bought a pair of long trailmaster add a leafs which was supposedly only going to lift the rear no more than about two inches. (leveling it out) however it appears to have lifted the rear between about 3-4 inches. So im back where I started, with the truck still sitting unlevel...but now the front is too low, by about two inches maybe.

Is there any fairly cheap fix to this? I've heard of torsion keys but havent heard of anyone using them...would they be a good idea? and would they give me any more lift than just having my torsion bars cranked like they are now?

thanx

You can't lift the front suspension anymore than you already have, its at the limit of what it is capable of for a stock setup, no amount of torsion cranking or new keys will fix it.

Best bet is to take out those AALs you added and get some Beltech shackles (good for 1.5" of lift) instead.

do you have anything heavy mounted up front.....like a aftermarket bumper and winch???

and like lego said...could try the Belltechs instead of the AAL's....cause the front is maxxed..

torsion keys

yeah i have a bumper me and a buddy built and a winch on it. so yea its pretty heavy.

yeah i might have to look into those shackles then. the only reason i went add a leafs is because i often haul stuff, or have a loaded truck bed.

so the torsion keys wont give me any more lift than just having the tbars cranked?
ive heard the keys are a good idea though because they dont put so much stress on the torsion bars and its a little better ride...what do you think? i do have them cranked almost to the max now..and ya it did get pretty stiff up front. would the keys fix this? or are they pretty much worthless?

may want to look at finding some of the higher rate torsion bars themselves....

but with all that extra weight on the nose it has wore out the stock torsion bars causeing it to sag...

i found this info on another site....the "1" code is supposed to be the strongest available....

PART NUMBER_________DESCRIPTION
F67Z 5B326-FB...........LH,SPRING CODE 1
F67Z 5B326-FA...........RH,SPRING CODE 1

and the "B" are higher than the stock Ranger ones....so here is the part number of the "B" rated torsion bar

PART NUMBER_________DESCRIPTION
F57Z 5B327-A...........LH,SPRING CODE B
F57Z 5B326-A...........RH,SPRING CODE B

from what i read, the guy that had a bumper and winch had decent luck with them....

torsion bars

hey thanks,

that looks like a good route to go.
i was wondering if they made a more heavy duty torsion bar.
im definitley gonna look into it...ill let you know how it turns out if i get em on there.

The "1" bars are the stiffest and come on FX4 Rangers and also Sport Tracs.

torsion bars

so would it be best to get the #1 bars? or the B bars?

how are they gonna affect my ride? i looked up the #1 bars and found them online for about 75 bucks a piece.

if ya didn't have the front bumper and winch i would say firmer...

but the extra weight negates that...

so get the #1 bars...

ok will do. thanx.

last question i have....do i need a special tool to install the new #1 tbars?

only special tool is the "C" clamp looking tool for holding the keys while removing the adjuster bolts and the piece the bolt goes through....

now-a-days you can "borrow" the tool from Autozone, Advance Auto, etc.....
