Hey guys, Ive screwed around and thrown my time and money toward my exhaust blindly enough. I'd like to hear some of your guys' 2.3's. And I'm sure there are more out here that would like some direction, and plus, it's a good chance to show off and find who has the best sounding 2.3 lol.

So post a link to any clips of your exhaust that you may have if you want to. I dont give a dern if it's a lima or duratec, it doesnt matter enough to bother me.

And it would be helpful to see a list of what is done to the exhaust as far as muffler, size of pipe, resonator or not, and so on.

Thanks RR. I had mine alot like yours is now for a long time. But my welds cracked up and ended up pissing me off lol. I agree on the sound on that Flow 40. Thats actually how my magnaflow sounds on mine right now, only, its embarassing to say, mine sounds riceyer:bad:

FYI, a duratec (DOHC) and lima (SOHC) sound nothing alike...

check youtube. theres tons of videos of all kinds of exhuast setups on there.

I know they dont:icon_twisted:. This is half about who can make what sound decent. As for me, I see a big ol quiet muffler in my future. That is, unless someone has some miracle recipe that doesnt sound like hell.

RR, yours sounds pretty good, but If Its the same as mine used to be, the interior noise is a killer.

I had a 2.3 in my 91 with a hedman header, 2.5" piping, flowmaster 40, and 3" tip. Sounded beefy. I cant remember it sounding too ricy. It kind of had the mustang/ford rumble. Definatly deeper than the last clip. I havent found one on youtube that it sounded like it. Not sure if the difference was the header....

The best sounding 2.3 exhaust to me are the ones with a turbine right after the engine. Nothing like the whistle you get out of a setup like that.

ill post my vid soon as it comes out of the garage...lol before and after (before=flowmaster) (After=no muffler duals)

I just got a Cherry Bomb extreme SI/DO muffler for my 2.3, and once i get it installed in my 97 ill post some vids of how it sounds :)

Thanks. You really have to hear it in person to get an idea cause the mic on my sony digital camera didn't pick it up well. Yeah the interior noise level is a bit much but I don't have a stereo right now and need to listen to something. I don't drive it like a ricer so I'm not hangin my revs in the air all day long as well as down shifting into 2nd at 45.. in fact I find myself short shifting sometimes. But to be honest.. a 4 grand shift sounds a bit silly on it.

Anyone know what the redline is on a 93 2.3? Don't think I ever hit it.

redline was 6400 RPM on my 97. It's totalled as of friday.

i just got a new muffler on my duratec. its a magnaflow single in dual out, 2 1/4 inch pipe, dumped out infront of the rear tire. the muffler is welded on RIGHT after the cat, it cost $50 to get mounted since I already had the muffler. video coming soon, upload is slow.
