It took me less then 5 minutes to RENEW my driver license here in Kansas.

When I lived in California it took hoursssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

So about two months ago I got a letter with a 1 page driving test and the booklet with all the answers mailed to me by the DMV because my license was finally going to be expiring on my birthday, so I sat down and answered all the driving questions on the test and the ones I was not quite sure about I just looked in the book they sent me.

I then drove to my local DMV office and walked in with my completed test, old driver license that was about to expire and proof of were I was living (water bill) I walked up to the counter and handed the guy my current license my driving test and proof of where I was living, he then quickly looked at my test then had me read line 5 on the eye test machine then he had me pay my 26 dollars for my new license and then had me stand in front of a blue back drop to take my picture then he handed me a print out of my temporary license and said my actual license would arrive in the mail within 10 days.

I then said thanks and walked out of the dmv and drove home, all in all it took less then 5 minutes and my license came in the mail in about 6 days and is good until 2016.

Damn I am glad I don't live in the city anymore otherwise this would of been one pain in the ass.

missouri you just gotta take a quick eye test drop some money and take a new pic and you get the license the same day.

PFFFF. I fill out a card, go in, get a picture taken, and they print the new one out right then and there. Takes 10 minutes, 20 on a busy day.

I even get to keep my old card just in case I need it in a pinch. They just punch a hole in it to show it's not valid.

I had to pay $66 to get mine renewed. That's the standard fee to get it renewed for another 6 years. But the process is very easy. I just had to sign my name on the form the DMV sent me, pay them, get my picture taken, and they handed me my new license. I got it done at the AAA office, since it's much closer than the DMV. AAA charged me an extra $2 since I'm not a member.

In NH, I'll be looking at about $100 to get mine renewed next year. Sometimes having a CDL can be a PITA. With the NH DMV, it'll be the usual, form & eye test & hand 'em a check. It'll probably be about 15-20 minutes, tops.

Can't you just renew online without even having to go in to the office?

Not in Kansas!

They need to take a new picture

You need to take an eye test

You need to give them your written driving test so they can score it.

I have you all beat. All you do here is go in, pay 25 bucks, and they take your pic and print out the new DL for you. If it is already expired its the same process only you have to show your original birth certificate.

None of you had to take a written test??? Hmmm

In CT, you only have to retake the test if you've been without a license for at least 2 years. I believe you have to retake both the written and driving test, it's basically the same as getting your license for the first time.

Yes it is.

Not in NH. It's the same deal as in Kansas, except w/o the driving test part.

Besides, NH has about a dozen licence/DMV offices throughout the state. For a small state, that's a lot. Plus, you can renew your vehicle rgistration @ the local town or city hall.

Here, I all that I have to do is walk in, pay the $12, smile, and walk back out with my renewed license.Even on a Saturday, if I get there before 1200.
