Hello all,

I have a 2004 Ranger XLT 3.0L OHV V6. I just put in an electronic flasher and replaced the turn signals with LEDs. When I put my signal on, they blink really fast. But when I put my hazards on, they blink normally......anybody know what the problem is???? :dunno:

LED bulbs don't have enough power draw, so even the electronic flasher is fooled into believing you have a bad bulb(s), so it blinks fast.

electronic flashers are NOT the same as LED flashers

the difference is the standard "click" style flashers are heat sensitive (heat from load) where as the electronic ones just pay attention to load, as to give you the fast flash, so you know when one is burnt out, you can get LED flashers, which are NOT load sensitive, i've got one on my bike, i forget what the part number is, i'll dig it up in a bit for you...

the other thing you can do, is put a load equalizer on, but they have issues of burning out and/or causing fires... i've never seen it happen, but i was warned when i put the leds on my bike, i went with an LED flasher instead...

try part number EL-12, or EP-28

the EP-28 is 100% an LED flasher, it is what is on my motorcycle, and it is a 3 prong relay

I have done this...The 5 prong is wired for both the turn signals and the hazard lights, and they share the ground wire. When you plug in the 3 prong flasher it will allow you to have turn signals (without the key on), but you will lose your hazards. In order to use both, you will need 2 flashers, and you will have to make a harness (short wires going from the flashers to the 5 prong plug) for it to work. If you choose this route, you will need to have both ground wires from the flashers going into the single ground into the 5 prong plug...

Throw in a Grote # 44090 5 pin Electronic LED flasher. Solved my fast blink after LED installs. Is a direct replacement. Got mine at NAPA.

Jesse you need an EP27 flasher relay, it should solve all of your problems

Dont the Rangers use 2 flashers, like the Explorer (same year)? One for the turn signals, and one for the hazards.

95+ Rangers/Explorers use a 5 pin flasher, it takes both the turn signal and the hazard circuit and combines them in one flasher...

Tell that to my '01 sport. It uses 2 separate flashers.

best bet, go into a parts store, bring your flasher that's on your truck now, tell them you need an electronic (led) flasher replacement, they will have something that will fit... make sure there is an e in the part number, (el-12 ep-28 ect) hd-XX will be heavy duty, but still thermal, which is not what you need

Hmm, good to know. My 96 and 97 Ranger and Explorer use the 5 pin single style flasher, I thought that Ford used that style from then on...
