I noticed both my pinion seals are leaking, at the front and rear yokes to the diff and T/C, The front isn't bad, just "wet" but the rear, if I leave the truck sit for a while will drop some drops. I have the seals so I will replace the rear this weekend and the front once it actually drips.

I also noticed is is damp where the shaft goes from the T/C to the front diff, I have that seal too, waiting for it to drip.

Is this normal for a truck with 75k on it? No idea how it was treated by the p/o I picked it up last year.

The one other question I have, the right side shaft has oil on it, not dropping, but also damp where it meets the cv boot. Can this be fixed or do I just wait for the shaft to bite it and replace the entire half shaft?

i wouldnt know why it would be leakin like that at 75k and 5 yrs old. if the previous owner let it sit for months at a time, stuff could start leakin. i bought an s10 blazer off my cousin b4 i got my ranger. he had lost his liscence for street racin and it sat there for bout 4 months till his mom made him sell it cuz he owed her money. when he was drivin it it didnt leak at all. when i started drivin it the tcase started leakin along with the power steering hoses. but as far as what you are sayin, i would replace all the gaskets together that are leakin so that you arent tearin stuff apart multiple times. then you would only have to change the fluid once.

Very normal apparantly..........
mine leaked front and rear both.

I bought it used....... didn't notice any wet look to it until I drove it home 14hrs from texas, it had been sitting at a dealership for a few months.

Yeah, seems a lot of the rear pinion seals leak about this time. I replaced the rear pinion seal this past weekend with a Timken one for a whole $8.99, took me way longer than I expected, but went pretty easy and seems to be holding with no noises so I guess I did it right.

The T/C and front diff seem to be the same basic job, I have those seals from Ford already, so I will get to those before the winter.

Not sure about the half shaft, I guess I will wait for it to go and then replace it?
