the front of my diff is leaking right behind the u joint is there anything i can do to stop it besides taking the axle apart because i dont have the mechanical ability to do that ive never done it also my transfer case is leaking too but not hardly at all i can get pictures if you want

you dont have to take the axle apart to replace a pinion seal. you simply remove the driveline, undo the pinion nut and yank the flange off...the seal is right there.

make sure you mark and then count the number of turns it takes to remove the pinion nut...you want to put it back exactly where it came off or else you'll ruin your pinion preload.

oh ok so you want it to be exactly where it was before and thats all there is too it? i figured i would have to get somebody to take everything apart

nope, its pretty simple. the pinion seal is just like a wheel seal (assuming youve replaced one of those before) in that you just pry the old one out with a screwdriver then carfully hammer the new one in.
