Well spring is here and I can't wait any longer. I know I should 4 link the truck right off the bat but I I figured leaf springs will be both faster and cheaper for now. The truck is a regular cab short box with a full width axle going under it. I plan on running 38 inch rubber and have already done the 5.0 swap. I was just wondering if anyone had any input on which leaf spring (jeep or chevy) would perform the best

you talking front?
YJ springs... rear 4runner springs...

I don't know for sure if you can fit 63's up front

but don't be scared of leafs. If you do it right, with the right leaf pack.. it'll be cheaper/easier/and work great.

but on a 87... I say coil spring and y-link radius arm it... you can easily build the radius arms in a 3 link (one straight lower, and one y-link) and just use your factory coil buckets and do it easy. You can even buy some pre-made y-link arms from Ironman Fab, Rusty's, Rough Country, etc....

Did a quiCk slap together mock up with an old set of stock yj springs to se where I was at. Everything looked great until the full weight of the truck was set down and the spring packs laid out past flat. Wonderin now if I need to look into full size packs or if the 4in lift packs would be stiff enough for the v8.

I used 4 door Ex leaves up front with my 4.0.....have wheeled em hard for almost 2 yrs....

you could add another Ranger leaf to make a bastard pack....

l8r, John
