my leaf springs on my '89 bronco 2 need replacing my local junkyard has several different year rangers and bronco 2's. i was wondering which if any years have interchangable leaf springs.:icon_confused:

any info would help. thx

Pretty sure all years of B2 used the same leaf springs. You could also get leaf springs out of a 1st gen explorer and gain a small bit of lift

Get them out of an explorer because if you get them out of a b2 or ranger you will have the same problem.

i must be the only guy that thinks explorer springs ride like shit in reg cab trucks and b2's???

thx guys, ill have to find out if they have explorers there. im goin there tommorow, so well see what i can find

Make sure it is a 4dr, a 2dr has weaker springs comparable to a BII's. I don't know if I have ever seen one that wasn't sagging in the rear.

All Rangers have the same length leaf springs as all BIIs. Explorers (up until they went to independent rear suspension) have the same spring length as well, but some Explorers got mono-leaf rear suspensions. 4-door explorers will add lift to your ranger or BII but you should flip the centering pin over (explorers are spring under axle, rangers and BIIs are spring over axle).

Of course, if you want to custom build a leaf pack, anything with the same spring width is fair game to be cut down to your needs. I've been there and done that.

I usually go to a spring shop and get the replacement nylon/teflon anti-squeak pads for the ends of the leafs, a new centering pin, and a new set of U-bolts when I replace a spring pack. Might as well do it right while it's out is my thought. I usually smear the replacement pads with wheel bearing grease on both sides too, seems to prolong their life.
